Lighthouse Gala Award Nomination Form
Each year at the Lighthouse Gala, Global Maritime Ministries presents two special awards to honor exceptional individuals from the maritime community.
CRYSTAL LIGHTHOUSE AWARD
This award celebrates the Maritime Person of the Year.
Nominees should be someone who:
- Made a significant contribution to the maritime industry
- Deserves recognition for positive accomplishments
- Demonstrates upstanding character

Sean Duffy
Chief Robert S. Hecker has been named as this year’s recipient of the Rev. John P. Vandercook Service Award, which celebrates the Maritime Humanitarian of the Year. As Police Chief for the Port of New Orleans Harbor Police Department, Hecker has extensive port security knowledge that has been provided to the Congressional Sub-Committee and shared on ABC and MSNBC news networks. He is being recognized for his many years of service to the port community. “Chief Hecker’s dedication to serve and protect the community has been proven time and time again during his twenty-five years of leading the Harbor Police department,” according to Rev. Philip Vandercook, Executive Director of Global Maritime Ministries.

This service award was named for the first director of Global Maritime Ministries and celebrates the Maritime Humanitarian of the Year.
