2025 Award Recipients

Very special awards will be presented to honor exceptional acts of service in the maritime community.

  • Crystal Lighthouse Award

    Representative Mark Wright has been named the 2025 recipient of the Crystal Lighthouse Award, which honors the Maritime Person of the Year. Representative Wright serves District 77 in Covington and is Chair of the Louisiana House Transportation Committee. He played a key role in establishing the Louisiana Ports and Waterways Investment Commission (LPWIC). On the LPWIC, he advocates for port and waterway development as part of a statewide strategic plan and investment initiative.


    In addition to his legislative role, Wright serves as Southern Region Vice President for the American Waterways Operators, the national trade association for the tugboat, towboat, and barge industry. He also co-chairs the Mid-American Regional Quality

    Steering Committee and serves on the board of the Greater New Orleans Port Safety Council. He holds a degree from Xavier University and an M.B.A. from the University of Dallas. He and his wife live in Covington with their children.


  • John P. Vandercook Service Award

    Sergeant Logan Tillery has been named the 2025 recipient of the Rev. John P. Vandercook Service Award, which honors the Maritime Humanitarian of the Year. Named in tribute to the Global Maritime Ministries founder and first port chaplain, this award recognizes those who demonstrate extraordinary compassion and service within the maritime industry. 


    Sgt. Tillery is being recognized for his bravery and swift action that saved the life of a young man. A dedicated member of the Harbor Police Department for years, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant earlier this year.
